*New to retinol or have sensitive skin? Consider starting with Vivier 0.3% Retinol SR Complex to properly pre-condition the skin*

Cleanse and tone your face and apply any lightweight serums before use. Apply a thin layer of Retinol 0.5% to face, neck and decolletage. Follow with your favourite cream or moisturizer, as desired. Daily use of SPF 30 or higher is essential as retinol use naturally makes the skin more sensitive to the sun.

DETAILS

To reduce the chance of initial dryness or redness, we suggest beginning with one application, once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency up to every evening as tolerated by your skin.

We recommend stepping up to Vivier Retinol 1% upon completion of your first tube if daily application is well tolerated and you are seeking advanced results.

Q: Do I need a prescription for Retinol 0.5%?

A: No. Retinol 0.5% is available without a prescription.

Q: What is the precaution when using retinol?

A: Since retinol use makes the skin more sensitive to the sun, proper protection with an SPF 30 or higher is essential. To further reduce the chance of any sun sensitivity, we recommend applying our retinol complexes at night.

Q: Can retinol products be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?

A: We do not recommend retinol products for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor before use.

Q: How long does it take to see results from retinol use?

A: Not all retinol products are created equal so results can vary significantly by brand. Thanks to our high potency pure retinol, complimentary quality ingredients, and Poly-Pore® slow-release delivery technology, you can expect to see noticeable results with little to no irritation in 2-3 weeks.

Q: Can I use this product after professional treatments?

A: Retinol is known to be a great results booster and can be used to help maintain results from a wide variety of anti-aging and pigmentation protocols such as peels and facials. Due to the wide range of treatments available and uniqueness of each patient’s skin, we always recommend consulting your doctor or esthetician for medical advice post-treatment.

Not enough time yet to notice a change...

I have used this Retinol 0.5% cream for about 2 weeks to date - I have slightly olive-toned skin and sun-damage (brown spots) on cheeks which is why I am trying this product. I had one laser treatment done a year ago, which left me with larger brown spots than I started with (maybe I need more laser treatments?). With the Retinol 0.5% I have had no irritation at all on my face (though did on backs of my hands - itch and redness, then peeling). It goes on easily, I have applied moisturiser over top, sometimes applied vit C serum underneath and used face sunscreen daily. I haven't noticed any lightening of the brown spots yet, but as I'm in a sunny location now I have stopped using it for a week. Despite using sunscreen, I have had some peeling to an area near the brown spots which may be due to use of the retinol product asI've never experienced this before. The vit C serum certainly makes my facial skin feel smooth. I will continue to use both and hope to be able to update this review!

I really wanted to like this retinol

I am always on the hunt for great skin care products. I cycle through different products and brands until I find something I love. I really like the Vivier Hyaluronic acid gel (ultimage, I believe?) as well as the enzymatic peel and AHA/BHA product. I just don’t like this retinol. At least on my skin, it pills and doesn’t really work into my skin like you would expect. I always apply my retinol as the last step of my PM skin care routine, at least 1hr after applying everything else to allow for maximum absorption of all products and use a pea sized amount for my face, and another pea for my neck. I don’t even need moisturizer before or after anymore. I will be sticking with either ZO or the Korean brand Beauty of Joseon for my retinol needs for now (like I said, I am always on the hunt for something better!)- I do still like the Vivier brand for several other products. This product is just too expensive to be wasted by pilling and rubbing off.
